There’s no supervisor round who loves shutting up the naysayers fairly as a lot as Jose Mourinho.
Everyone knows what to anticipate from the Particular One by now. Each when it comes to his manner and his model of play. He’s been within the recreation lengthy sufficient for all of the methods up his sleeve to be frequent information.
However he’s a little bit of a myth-buster too is our Jose. And with how Actual Madrid took the lead in El Clasico, his first conflict with Barcelona since 2013, the soccer did the speaking for him.
We’re not on about how the aim went in right here. Kylian Mbappe’s opener was a weird end because the ball deflected into his path by a botched Barca clearance. All he wanted to do was run into the ball to fireplace it in.
What we’re extra intrigued by is the construct up. Assume Mourinho’s groups are all about security first, anti-football? Assume once more.
Should you didn’t know any higher, you’d have thought the gamers had swapped shirts. Actual Madrid had been knocking the ball about from one finish of the pitch to the opposite calmly and cleverly.
It wasn’t fairly Tiki Taka, nevertheless it was positively extra out of the normal Barca playbook than what we’ve come to count on from a Mourinho crew.
The entire again 4 touched the ball, escaping any try of a Barca press. Even stand-in keeper Andriy Lunin received concerned.

In a manner, it was a disgrace it got here off the Barca defender simply earlier than Mbappe’s end, in any other case that would have been one of many nice possession-based objectives in current La Liga reminiscence. Possibly it nonetheless will be.
Finally, Barca hit again through Raphinha to degree El Clasico up within the second half, however Mbappe received Madrid again in entrance with just a few minutes left.
Cue a Mourinho knee slide. Naturally.
